The AWMA-CNY Chapter will host February’s monthly meeting with a virtual lunch meeting scheduled for Tuesday, February 22, 2022. Derek Rosso PE, a senior engineer with Arcadis, will present on Thermal In Situ Sustainable Remediation (TISR, (SM)) To Enhanced Biotic and Abiotic Reactions and Accelerate Remediation. A summary of the presentation follows:
TISR is an inexpensive and practical method for modest heating of target contaminant treatment zones in the subsurface utilizing a sustainable heat source (generally solar or waste heat), closed loop fluid circulation, and subsurface heating via low-maintenance borehole heat exchangers (BHEs). Thermal conduction and some advection results in the heating of a subsurface target zone by approximately 10-20°C. Elevated temperatures results in the enhancement of biological, chemical, and physical processes that attenuate, degrade, and remove contaminants.
PDH will be offered.
The meeting will take place via Zoom and you will be provided with a link to the meeting after your sign up, the day prior to the presentation. The meeting schedule will be as follows:
11:30 AM – 12:00 PM – Open Zoom Meeting Format (bring your lunch for a casual, non-structured half hour to catch up with your fellow participants).
12:00 – 12:05 PM – Housekeeping Annoucementns and Introductions
12:05 - 1:00 PM – Featured Speaker
1:00 – 1:15 PM – Time for Q&A and Additional Networking
Please register by clicking below by noon Monday, February 21, 2022. This meeting will be free for CNY AWMA members (remember to renew your membership – renew online through on our Membership page here). The cost for non-members to attend is $15 though students may attend the meeting for free.
