The AWMA-CNY Chapter will host our next monthly program with a virtual lunch meeting scheduled for Tuesday, April 20, 2021. Darcy Sachs, Project/Program Manager at Arcadis, will present on Wastewater Monitoring for SARS-CoV-2. COVID-19 virus transmission occurs from symptomatic and asymptomatic people. Monitoring the wastewater collection system along with human health data can be used to assess the virus spread in a community and inform health decision makers of localized outbreaks of COVID-19. The presentation will cover the basics of wastewater epidemiology, as well as results from several studies and active projects on the subject. This will include an overview of the NYS Pilot results in one municipality and show the power of this tool in a community setting when an outbreak occurs. We are seeking PDH credit for this presentation, with more information to follow.
